Bidens aristosa (bearded beggarticks, bur marigold) is a late summer wildflower found in the eastern United States, Ontario and the Midwest. It has yellow, daisy-like flowers that bloom in late summer through fall, is routinely available and is popular in garden settings. It is an annual species, but it will re-seed easily.

 

Bidens cernua (nodding beggarticks) is a native species widely distributed throughout most of North America. It is an annual that blooms in late summer through fall, occurring naturally in swamps and wet ground. Numerous yellow flower heads nod increasingly as the flowers mature. It is routinely available in nurseries.

 

Bidens laevis (smooth beggarticks) is distributed primarily throughout the southern part of the United States, no further north than California on the west coast, but extending northward to Maine along the east coast.

Depending upon the region in which it grows, it can be either an annual or perennial species. It blooms from mid-summer through fall and is routinely available in nurseries.
